Although in the past people may have fidgets annoying, perhaps endlessly tapping their fingers now, thanks to a new toy they may find those fidgets amazing. The toy is a fidget spinner and it spins between two fingers thanks to some ball bearings inside. Even though these devices only appeared in 2016, most users have already found several tricks that can be done with them and that is what the once fidget haters now like to watch; the tricks, no longer finding the fidgets annoying but now more of an entertainment. You can find out more about Fidget spinners at https://smoothfidget.com/ but even though they were only introduced in 2016, they have already become popular with a very wide assortment of people. Although the gadgets are basically classified as toys, as it is said that they can improve a person’s concentration, a great number of students and workers have bought them to see if that claim is true and they can help them to concentrate in class or at work.
Most of the people that have tried these devices to see if they can help improve their concentration have said that they do however teachers are a little skeptical as to whether they should be allowed in classrooms. The teachers do not doubt that the spinners may help students to concentrate but their concern is that they also distract the user or others as they rapidly spin between someone’s fingers. The teachers say that any good the spinners may do, is more than outbalanced by the distraction they cause and so should not be allowed in classrooms. A decision on this has not been made by any educational authority yet and so as to whether or not a student can take a spinner into class, still depends on the particular school they attend and the teacher they have.
As well as fidget spinners there are also fidget cubes which work similarly to the spinners but as they are cubes, do not offer the same level of visual distraction. It has therefore been suggested that instead of taking fidget spinners to classes, students should instead take the fidget cubes. Each individual office or workplace will of course make their own decisions as to whether or not they allow workers to use the spinners or the cubes at work.
Even if the spinners cannot be taken to the classroom or to the workplace, they are still amusing and so will probably remain popular but like any craze that has been in the past, like the hula hoop or the Rubik cube, their fate will probably be that they fade into almost obscurity after just a few short years. That is unless of course they are proven to have some medical uses as is being claimed. It is said that these spinners could help people that have mobility disorders to restore some mobility to their hands. This has yet to be proven but if it is then they may be around for years in medical facilities at least.
